A Personal Perspective

I attended ALT-C this year as a Blended Learning Advisor and a member of the project team for the JISC LLL-WFD ePPSME (Developing an e-Portfolio based Pedagogy for SMEs) project at the University of Wolverhampton. I attended a number of sessions but I will highlight just a few of key inspiring messages I heard.

I must start with what I found to be one of the most inspiring parts of the conference (though there were many). Michael Wesch’s opening keynote was wonderful in setting the scene for a conference hoping to inspire people with the power and potential of embedding technology into the curriculum. The Higher Education Academy supported ELESIG is a growing community of researchers and practitioners involved in investigations and evaluations of learners’ experiences of e-learning. ELESIG aims to:

  • Identify and exploit the synergies between existing learner experience projects.
  • Build capacity for undertaking learner experience research.
  • Establish a supportive and sustainable network of practitioners who are undertaking learner experience research.
  • Improve our understanding of the skills and strategies needed by learners to participate effectively in technology rich environments and courses.
