STEEPLE Workshop, Nottingham, 23-24 November

The plan for this workshop is to run the first day (Monday, 23rd) as more of a technical day, and Tuesday (24th) as a more general day. You can attend either or both of these days, and for those who want to stay on, there’s also the opportunity to attend Nottingham’s Opencontent conference on the 25th. TAG Retention Show and Tell, UCLan, 9 December

MEAoT, Cambridge University, 10 December 2009

The aims of this assembly are to explore models for the distribution of software to encourage stakeholder adoption and to learn more about teaching administration software. Participants already signed up are MEAoT, representatives of Cambridge departments who are using the TODB, the BRII project and Social Sciences project DAISY from Oxford.

The TELSTAR team are holding an event on the 14 January 2009 at the Kents Hill Park Training and Conference Centre. Co-genT, University of Gloucestershire, 26 January 2010

Co-genT’s proposed event will be a face-to-face workshop hosted by the University of Gloucestershire, organised in collaboration with the ePPSME Project, with an open invitation to all the other projects in the JISC Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development (LLL & WFD) programme. The purpose will be to exchange ideas on the development and implementation of academic accreditation frameworks, and participants will be invited to share experiences with the aim of identifying common issues and how these have been dealt with in specific contexts. Rethinking Learning and Employment at a Time of Economic Uncertainty

The pace of social, technical and economic change in a global environment requires increasing adaptability and flexibility in businesses and organisations, especially for the people who work in them and the systems which support them. This need has been intensified by the current economic crisis. During the last four years the TENCompetence project has addressed these challenges by developing an infrastructure for lifelong learning in Europe. The project would like to invite you to their open workshop with keynotes from Rob Koper and Oleg Liber, research paper sessions, practical workshops focused around the project’s contributions, and round tables.

Curriculum Innovation

Trying to do better things – an emerging story about curriculum innovation, 2 December 2-3pm via Elluminate

Using his experience of trying to innovate in his institution, Professor Norman Jackson from the Surrey Centre for Excellence in Professional Education and Training will reflect on the different strategies that have been employed and relate these to leading research around institutional change and transformation. Million+ Launches Research into the Impact of Funding

A report published recently by the university think-tank million+ confirms the value of funding projects to advance the innovative application of digital technologies in UK universities. The report ‘From inputs to impact: a study of the impact of JISC funding on universities’ examines the outcomes of 113 JISC-funded projects in 28 universities over a six-year period and can be downloaded here http://www.jisc.ac.uk/…

The Role of e-portfolios

The final report, plus case studies (34 in total) from the ‘Study on the role of e-portfolios in formative and summative assessment practices’ by a team led by the Centre of Recording Achievement, is now available from: (here)

JISC infoNet Launches New Impact Calculator

The Impact Calculator can be used to demonstrate the impact of process redesign by quantifying the tangible benefits or efficiency gains that can be derived from it. Originally developed under a Records and Information Management project, this tool has a much wider applicability for measuring the impact of change initiatives generally www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/impact-calculator

Accessibility Considerations for Projects

Techdis has produced a series of video resources to help you look at accessibility considerations around the technology aspects of your projects. The six clips last a total of 63 minutes and offer guidance on a range of issues including communication, engagement, user testing and support resources.
