JISC Innovating e-Learning 2009
Thriving, not just surviving 24-27 November 2009
The theme of this year’s JISC online conference reflects the challenges facing further and higher education in the 21st century with keynotes from Charles Leadbeater, leading thinker on innovation and strategy, Nigel Paine (writer, broadcaster, organisational learning specialist and former BBC Head of People Development), Helen Beetham and Dr Rhona Sharpe (JISC Learner Experiences of e-Learning), Peter Bradwell (The Edgeless University, Demos) plus a variety of sessions under two themes, each running over two days.

JISC Joint Innovation Forum
As well as the eLearning JISC online conference and the general JISC Conference in London 12-13 April 2010, there will be another JISC Joint Innovation Forum (JIF) 28-29 July 2010, London.
One person from each LLL&WFD project can be nominated to attend so put the date in your diary early to avoid disappointment. E-learning Programme Manager Ruth Drysdale will be on the working group planning this event, and if you are interested in presenting or being involved, please contact Ruth at r.drysdale@JISC.ac.uk The 2010 event will probably have a similar agenda format as 2008, the link to which is (here)
e-Portfolio-based Learning
Elluminate session 28 October 2009, 2-3pm (rescheduled from July 6th) Julie Hughes from Wolverhampton University will host a session on how the use of an e-portfolio system can support students to become critically engaged reflective learners. The session will draw upon 5 years experience in a School of Education with examples shared from Foundation Degree to Masters level. e-Portfolios transforming 21st century learning?

ELESIG Symposium
Learning literacies in the digital age 9.45 am – 4 pm, Wednesday 7 October 2009 The Studio, Birmingham
The Higher Education Academy supported ELESIG is a growing community of researchers and practitioners involved in investigations and evaluations of learners’ experiences of e-learning. ELESIG is now organising its seventh face to face symposium, sponsored by the JISC with contributions from colleagues who have been researching the skills and strategies of the digital learner.

Going Global 4
The British Council shall be holding its 4th Going Global conference at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in London on 24-26 March 2010.
The conference theme is ‘World Potential: Making Education Meet the Challenge’, and will explore the trends and implications across the following areas:

- Global partnerships
- Global citizens
- Policy and leadership
