Learning literacies in the digital age

The Higher Education Academy supported ELESIG is a growing community of researchers and practitioners involved in investigations and evaluations of learners’ experiences of e-learning. ELESIG aims to:
- Identify and exploit the synergies between existing learner experience projects.
- Build capacity for undertaking learner experience research.
- Establish a supportive and sustainable network of practitioners who are undertaking learner experience research.
- Improve our understanding of the skills and strategies needed by learners to participate effectively in technology rich environments and courses.
ELESIG is now organising its seventh face to face symposium, sponsored by the JISC with contributions from colleagues who have been researching the skills and strategies of the digital learner. The day will include:
· Helen Beetham will share the outcomes of the JISC Learning Literacies for the Digital Age Project (Llida) in a workshop entitled “Learners of the future: What is society requiring of learners?” To prepare yourself for the symposium, you are advised to browse the Llida site (go here), especially the findings in the final report.
· News of the ELESIG small grants awards
· A members’ corner to share and exchange experiences of researching and evaluating the learners’ experiences. There is a maximum of 10 minutes per member – contact Helen Whitehead (helen@reachfurther.com) to reserve your slot now!
· As usual, the organising committee will hold a meeting 4 – 5pm, to which all members are welcome.
