e-Portfolio Workshops

e-Portfolio-based Learning: Elluminate session

Julie Hughes from Wolverhampton University will host a session on how the use of an e-portfolio system can support students to become critically engaged reflective learners. The session will draw upon 5 years experience in a School of Education with examples shared from Foundation Degree to Masters level.

When: 28th October 2009, 2-3pm
Where: Online via Elluminate

This session draws upon 5 years practice and research exploring how the use of an e-portfolio system might support and enhance student engagement and learning. Julie is particularly interested in: how technologies such as blogs might support the transitions into and out of the university, the development of collaborative learning cultures including assessment for learning strategies, the role of dialogue and talkback (Lillis 2001) in formative assessment (including ePDP) and feedback and the vital role of mentoring and capacity building in colleagues to ensure that the practices and pedagogies are supported and embedded beyond projects and pilots.

The session will draw upon student e-portfolio artefacts and narratives from Foundation Degree to Master’s level and will consider how the shift to e-portfolio-based learning requires attendant pedagogic shifts and curriculum redesign to fully exploit the iterative and recursive learning potential within the technology.
